Excelerate Software Offers No-Cost Energy Saving Program for California School Districts
The program is sponsored by Southern California Edison, San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) and Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) as part of the utilities’ conservation initiative.

“With energy costs continuing to rise and education budgets being slashed, this program will enable school districts to enjoy significant energy savings this year and in years to come,” said Damian Mendoza, President of Excelerate Software.  “This is a win-win situation and we are pleased to be able to help schools save critical funds through this green solution.”

Excelerate Software will provide school districts with energy management software for Windows and Apple MacIntosh computer systems.  The non-disruptive software, which can be installed remotely on individual computers, is programmed to respond to CPU, disk and application activity and ensures that workstations are available whenever they are needed and power down when they are not.  The software provides detailed reporting that allows districts to monitor computer user-and down time and to track their energy and monetary savings.  It is estimated that districts will reduce their energy costs by $30 - $70 per computer per year for a total savings of thousands of dollars annually.

Excelerate Software is providing school districts with the software for only $1 thanks to a rebate program under the auspices of Southern California Edison, SDG&E and PG&E.  Serving as project sponsor, Excelerate Software will purchase the software from the manufacturer on behalf of the district, oversee installation, and recover the rebate, which covers the fee for the software licenses.  Districts have 45 days to install the software from the date of their request to participate in the program.
